Hi, I’m Alex — the potter behind Catlin Clay.
I make pottery in my home studio in San Diego using stoneware and porcelain clay.
Iโm fascinated by how objects are held and used โ how a mug fits in your hand, or how a bowl becomes part of someoneโs daily routine. Most of my work is functional because I love how the spirit of handmade pottery quietly supports and uplifts everyday life. When you buy one of my pots, Iโd love for it to add some meaning and a thread of connection between maker and user.
My process is slow and hands-on. Each piece is thrown on the wheel, then altered, glazed, and fired in small batches.
